Which Bali visa do you need? A lookup by nationality

Three groups, one quick answer

Every passport falls into one of three groups for Bali: visa-free, Visa on Arrival, or visa-required in advance. Find your group, then message us to confirm before you book.

Your nationality determines exactly how you enter Bali, and there are only three groups to know. Most ASEAN citizens enter visa-free for 30 days, with no fee but no option to extend. Over ninety nationalities — including the US, UK, Australia, the EU and Canada — are eligible for the Visa on Arrival at IDR 500,000, with 30 days extendable once. A smaller number must apply for a visa in advance at an Indonesian embassy before travelling. Find your group below, then send us a quick message to confirm.

01

How to read your result

Once you know your group, the practical detail follows. Visa-free means no fee but no extension, so it suits trips of 30 days or less. Visa on Arrival means a IDR 500,000 fee for 30 days that you can extend once to 60. Visa-required-in-advance means you must secure a visa from an Indonesian embassy before you fly — never assume you can sort it on arrival.

02

What changes the answer: trip length and purpose

Your group sets the starting point, but two things can change the right choice. Length of stay matters: if you want more than 30 days, a visa-free entry will not do, and even VOA-eligible travellers need a plan to extend or switch visas. Purpose matters too: the VOA and visa-free entry are for tourism only and cannot be used for work. Remote work, business or study calls for a different visa entirely.

03

Why it is worth checking before booking

A two-minute check before you book flights can save a great deal of stress. Confirming your group, your eligibility, and that your passport is valid for at least six months with blank pages ensures there are no surprises at the gate. Send us your nationality and dates and we will give you a clear written answer.
